UGANDA: A total of More than 8,000 secondary school teachers recruited in two years- NRM Manifesto Week.

ENTEBBE –A total of 8,300 new secondary school teachers were recruited in FY2018/19 and FY2019/20, Minister for Education and Sports Janet Museveni has revealed. When presenting the ministry’s accomplishments in the past 4 years during the ongoing NRM Manifesto Week, Ms. Museveni said there is ongoing recruitment of 2,000 teachers already advertised by the Education Service Commission in FY2019/20. “We promoted 1,200 teachers who had upgraded from Diploma to Graduate qualifications,” she said. UGANDA: “MPs security investigations” – Parliament demands for a progress report

Parliament has tasked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to present a statement on the progress of investigations on security of Members pf Parliament. The Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah told the House sitting on Wednesday, 29 January 2020 that there is need to urgently handle errant police officers especially those involved in the incident with Hon Atkins Katusabe in Kasese in December last year. “Honorable Minister, this matter involves a Member Parliament; so can you take steps that show us that real action is being taken to quell this tension,” Oulanyah said.
