At least seven people have been killed and hundreds others displaced after heavy rain pounded the north-eastern town of Korogwe, Mwananchi newspaper (Swahili) reports, quoting local officials.
Local official Kissa Gwakisa said that villages in Korogwe constituency had been worst hit.
A teachers’ college and a market had been damaged, he added.
Authorities have managed to evacuate those affected to safe areas, Mwananchi reports, quoting the local MP.
Drivers have been warned not to use affected roads because the bridges and the road surfaces may be precarious.
