Two people were shot dead along the Kampala-Entebbe Express highway on Thursday night.
Princes Florence Maya Kamikazi, a Rwandan national and her bodyguard Joshua Nteyireho Ruhegyera were shot dead at around 11:00 pm yesterday near Nambigirwa bridge, towards Mpala, Katabi Town Council.
This raises more concerns among Ugandan public who continue to witness rampant murders in the country.
Furthermore, this incident seems to snag the Uganda’s efforts to restore a good relationship with Rwanda. Both countries will lead their delegations to Luanda, Angolan capital this month to start the implementation process of Angola peace deal signed by Uganda’s President and Rwanda’s president last month.
Reporting on the killing, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, says that investigations into the crime have commenced. furthering that detectives and scene of crime officers from Katwe, Kajjansi, Bwebajja, Entebbe and their overt, covert officers are all combing surrounding areas with hope of picking Kimikazi killers.
Eye witness on the scene, Mpala Isma Kimera recounted that the deceased were travelling in a black Prado registration number UAW 534B heading to Entebbe when they were waylaid by two unidentified men. Mpala continued that when the driver stopped, they were showered with bullets.
