Rapper Nicki Minaj to perform in conservative Saudi Arabi this month

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia

International American Rapper Nicki Minaj has been invited by the conservative Muslim country Saudi Arabia. She will headline the Jeddah World Fest, a music and performance festival on July, 18, 2019.

The festival which be held under strict Saudi laws including alcohol and drug-free, is open to people 16 and older and will take place at the King Abdullah Sports Stadium in the Red Sea city.

Other invited international celebrities include British artist Liam Payne and American DJ Steve Aoki.

The move has been seen by conservatives as an “Haram” literally meaning forbidden by the government of Saudi which is the center of the most holiest places of Islam. However, other moderate Islamist have praised the move as move to advocate for equal rights for all.

Over the past several months, the kingdom has seen performances by Mariah Carey, Enrique Iglesias, the Black Eyed Peas, rapper Sean Paul, and DJs David Guetta and Tiesto.
