The organizers of the Sandie Beach Rugby Tournament have appreciated the Nigerian Rugby Football Federation for their support of the bi-annual event which took place on the 1st and 2nd of December at the Takway Bay Beach, Lagos.
The two day event attracted more than hundreds of locals towards the new game.
Schools around the country participated in the games. They included; Toybat School, Ojoku School, Falomo, the Takway Bay.
Local club leagues also participated in the event, they included; Nigerian Police RFC, Cowrie RFC, Racing RFC.
CEO Turbocrest Sport, organizers of the event, Olatunbosun Ayo Johnson, applauded the success of the event and they thanked the players, and fans for their dedication and love towards the sport since its inception.
“The tournament since inception has been an uphill task, but we are making progress towards making it an international event and also becoming a well-known fascinating event at the Takwa Bay Beach,” he said.
The beach tournament has seen an increase in the number of players from 2012 to 2017, at an average of +282% and also as the second African country after South Africa where rugby fans have increased.

Johnson concluded that the event is meant to bring fun in the sun for everyone. He promised to spice the event with other side attractions such as musical appearance and Comedy.
