Butembe chiefdom Prime minister, Mr. Munaaba Paul urges Basoga to resort to Agro-forestry and aquaculture than sugarcane growing as Million Trees National Initiative Uganda-MTNi-Ug teaches

According to Butembe chiefdom Prime Minister, Mr Munaaba Paul, he explained that all along Basoga are known of sugar canes farming neglecting other short term plants that can yield a lot of Money, foods and Jobs to Communities around Busoga. He explained that Busoga has a very good soil with humus that can support Fruit Planting, Aquaculture as well as tree planting. He went ahead to urge all Communities to use the opportunity brought in by Million Trees National Initiative Uganda, MTNi-Ug to end poverty, unemployment, hunger while growing more Million Trees in every county.

Busoga Chiefdoms urges Basoga to engage in Agroforestry & Aquaculture other than Sugarcane Planting. As Million Trees National Initiative Uganda, MTNi-Ug continues to extend it’s green activities Counrtywide, Busoga Kingdom seems to be more prepared and ready to implement all the green activities of Benefiting Community While Saving the Environment.

Mr Munaaba Paul, Prime Minister Butembe chiefdom called upon all prime ministers to welcome Million Trees National Initiative Uganda, MTNi-Ug in their Chiefdoms by mobilizing and coordinating their members to engage in such a fruitful Program.
Dr Semakura Jibril Owomugisha, CEO MTNi-Ug went ahead to call Basoga Communities to prepare their lands for easy Implementation of MTNi-Ug green activities since the Organization has reached Busoga Region and ready to work hand-in-hand with everyone. The advantages of Mixed farming will be seen in Busoga Region after 3 years of implementing Million Trees National Initiative Uganda, MTNi-Ug.
Dr Jibril, Chief Executive Officer Million Trees National Initiative Uganda, called upon Basoga to wake up and stop concentrating on Sugar canes farming and start fruit planting as well as growing trees in their plantations which will serve as wind breakers, medicines, attractions for pollinators as well as for Bee Keeping activities ( such as Kaliandria tree species which is good for Bee attraction, Animals’ feeds).
In the meeting, Dr Semakura Jibril Owomugisha explained how much MTNi-Ug is willing to improve people’s Food Security, household income empowerment, Creating more Green jobs for Basoga by Donating short term plants like Vegetables like Cabbages, tomatoes, Carrots, Fruit seedlings like Mangoes, Oranges, Guavas and Cash crops like Coffee plant Seedlings to Communities. He explained how much this organization is ready to grow One Million Trees in every county within the eleven (11) Busoga Chiefdoms basically to increase on Uganda’s forest cover that has declined from 24% (1990) to 9% (2018) and now to 12.4%.

This is a plantation sitting on 1 acre of land but with every species of Indigenous trees, every kind of short term plants like Vegetables, Fruits and Cash crops like Coffee. It’s again a green call for every Musoga to implement the green activities of Million Trees National Initiative Uganda as we Benefit the community while saving the Environment in Uganda.
