Missing Police officer found dead in Kalangala Forest Reserve

Elweu Emmanuel, a Police officer who went missing yesterday has been found dead in Funve Central Government Forest Reserve on Bubembe Island, Mazinga Sub-County Kalangala District.

Yesterday at 7pm, Emmanuel went with Idris Nassur and Mbabazi Geoffrey, a Forest supervisor in Kyamuswa County for a Forest Patrol in Funve forest reserve where he went missing.

Elweu’s body has been found in the middle of Funve forest reserve today at 11am with his gun and cuts around his body.

Also over 25 suspects are detained at Kalangala Police station as investigations are under way.

Muhammad Nsubuga Salongo, the greater Masaka Regional Spokesperson says a group of goons attacked our police office while on duty in Funve Reserve Forest.

Nsubuga has further narrated that over 25 suspects are under police custody as investigations are going on.

Damba is on lookout for our officers as he nurses bullet wounds at Kalangala Health Center IV. Nsubuga adds.

Despite nursing bullet wounds, Damba Ibrahim says, officers in many circumstances have been acquiring a total of Ugx 200,000-500,000= to allow them to encroach on the Forest Reserve.

Charcoal banners are found encroaching on Forest Reserves in Kalangala District and on many occasions, they are found in wrangles with security officers.
