John Mikel Obi spouse, Olga Allegra has praised him for his courage to leave Trabzonspor in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
“You are vile, but My man is a hero. Family over everything. Good friends show their love in times of trouble, not just in times of happiness. — Euripides,” she responded in an Instagram post.
Turkish Topflight league side Trabzonspor has reached a mutual agreement with former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel to part ways on mutual consent.
Mikel joined the Turkish side as a free agent on a two-year deal after a short spell with the English Championship side Middlesbrough.
The former Chelsea player has helped the Trapzonspor to top this season playing 19 games and giving a good account of himself.
The mutual agreement is believed to be unconnected with Mikel’s insistence that the Turkish FA follow the trend and postpone the ongoing Season due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus virus.
The Turkish club, however, confirmed that the former Nigerian captain forfeited his wages which he would have earned if he saw out his contract.
On Saturday, Mikel, a father of two, publicly criticized Turkish authorities for not suspending football activities in the country despite the spread of Covid-19 around the world.
The Super Eagles midfielder in his statement said he does not feel comfortable playing football amid the global crisis and demanded the Turkish Super Lig season to be suspended.
