Victims of the murder incident Fatema Begum, her two daughters Nura, Haurin and her son Fadil Collected
Parvez is also an accused in a case filed for murdering a seven-year-old girl, Nilima, on February 22 of 2018
A man on parole for the rape and murder of a 7-year-old child has once again killed 4 individuals of a family, including 2 children whom he raped before murdering them in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
The accused Parvez gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) before a Gazipur court on Monday about the recent murders he committed, confirmed Inspector Hafizur Rahman of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Fatema Begum, 40, her two daughters Nura, 16, Haurin, 11, and her mentally challenged son Fadil, 7, are victims of the murder incident that took place in the early hours of Friday in Jainabazar area of the upazila.
On Friday around 12:30am, Parvez used an opening at a bathroom on the second floor of the victims’ residence to get in, Parvez told police during preliminary interrogation.
Parvez said he went inside the house to steal mobile phones. He hid himself in Nura and Haurin’s bedroom for an hour, then brought a chopper [locally known as ‘Bothi’] from the kitchen to break open Fatema’s door.
Parvez hacked at Fatema indiscriminately with the chopper when she saw him and shouted. He consecutively hacked at Fadil, Nura, and Haurin, when they woke up from sleep hearing the noise. He killed Fadil first, then raped the injured Nura and Haurin before slitting all of their throats to make sure they die, said Parvez during the confession to police.
Fatema’s husband is an expat currently staying in Malaysia. Sreepur police station OC Liakat Ali said the victim’s father-in-law filed a case with the police station on the day of the incident.
Parvez is also an accused in a case filed for murdering a seven-year-old girl, Nilima, on February 22 of 2018. Court kept him on parole considering his age after a charge-sheet was framed against him, said OC Liakat.
Gazipur Police Bureau of Investigation Inspector Hafizur Rahman said tests will be conducted to determine Parvez’s age, and the court has sent him to Juvenile Correction Centre in Tongi for now.
