We are going to have Zero tolerance to garbage, Dorothy Kisaka, the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority said this morning while launching Kampala Smart City Operation in Kisenyi 1,2 and Mengo.
This is a wide City Operation. It should be every stakeholder’s job. It includes leaders of Communities, landlords, market leaders and law enforcers. This is our city all of us.
This will be a weekly Campaign launched in different Parishes and Zones. Next week, we shall launch in Kamwokya. You know its a rainy season. We are going to embark on serious garbage collection at night. We have got permission from the Security Circles and Resident City Commissioner. (RCC).These trucks of our Agents or partners will have Stickers and will operate from 8PM-midnight.
Sweepers of the roads will also be allowed to operate. We shall also ensure that drainage channels are not blocked.Nabugabo, Consortium and home clean will do this job thoroughly. Incase Garbage takes long in a certain area, please take a photo and reach out to us, we shall send a truck to collect it. We need to sort out rubbish right from our homes. Sort out the plastic, organic materials so that it’s easy for the collectors.
This rubbish can also be turned into something useful. We are working on this with our partners.
Now we are fighting the Pandemic. Its not over.It still exists. Please continue wearing your masks.
