KCCA FC and the Manager, Mike Hillary Mutebi have today, the 29th of March 2021 agreed by mutual consent to terminate his employment with immediate effect.

Morley Byekwaso

The Club, under his stewardship has attained Three (03) League titles, Two (02) Uganda Cups, Four (04) Super Cups and One (01) CECAFA Clubs Cup over the last five years making him the most successful Manager in the Club’s history.

The Club recognizes his immense contribution in making KCCA FC the leading Club in Uganda and wishes him well in his future endeavors.

Morley Byekwaso takes charge of all First Team duties as the Interim Manager immediately.

We wish Morley and the Team the best of luck.

Seven titles and one appearance apiece in the group stages of the CAF Champions league and Confederation cup and doing all that with a youthful team is no mean feat and it may takes ages for anyone to ever replicate Mutebi’s success at Lugogo or anywhere else in Uganda.

Right Time For Byekwaso To Walk Out Of Mutebi’s Shadow

Many KCCA fans have for a while-now cried for Byekwaso to take charge of the head coach role at the expense of Mutebi.

Their pleas have finally been answered by the Kasasiros hierarchy.

Byekwaso has been at KCCA for a while now, a club he also played for at some point in his career.

He has been credited by many for identifying several youth players, while they were still in school and ensuring that they get a shot in the first team.

On top of being Mutebi’s assistant, Byekwaso has also been doubling as the National U20 head coach where he has further stamped his status as a top coach.

After seeing his side shockingly eliminated at the quarter final stage of their home CECAFA U20 Championship in 2019, Byekwaso would led the same side to arguably the greatest achievement in Ugandan football, two years later.

Heading into the 2021 AFCON U20 tournament as overwhelmingly underdogs, Byekwaso’s side upset the odds and reached the final of the championship in Cameroon where they would eventually lose to Ghana.

The Hippos performance in Cameroon added more fuel to the cries of the KCCA fans who kept on reiterating that he was ready to take over the hot seat at Lugogo.

Having worked with Mutebi for all the while he has, Byekwaso is clearly aware of the KCCA philosophy and how the gaffer managed to attain so much success in his time at the club.

It is never easy stepping into the shoes of an individual that has enjoyed reasonable success at any aspect in life and Mutebi set the bar so high for anyone to try and replace him but who better than his right hand man to try and fill his boots?
