Kasawo Islamic School confirmed host of 2019 UMEA Games

KAMPALA, Uganda

Kasawo Islamic Secondary School in Mukono has been cleared to host the 2019 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity Games for secondary schools.

The announcement was made at the UMEA offices in Kibuli on Tuesday evening.

Kasawo Islamic was nominated during last year’s event at Nkoma SS in Mbale and given the flag for hosting the Games.

The organizing committee visited the school facilities on three occasions before approving them as hosts.

UMEA Secretary General Hajji Abubakar Kakembo confirmed the news and guaranteed that Kawowo is capable for hosting the event.

Hajji Kakembo assured the press that the organizing committee has critically observed Kasawo Islamic’s facilities before making the decision.

He further noted that the committee was fully convinced Kasawo could run the event appropriately.

‘The Director and Headmaster of Kasawo Islamic pledged himself during last year’s event in Mbale. They applied for hosting the UMEA Solidarity games. Our committee visited Kasawo three times and found out that the school is capable of hosting the event this year. We are much convinced that they have the capacity to host the schools event’ said UMEA Secretary General Hajji Kakembo.

While at the function, the Director of Kasawo Islamic School Hajji Khassim Kajaya praised the organizing Committee for granting his school the opportunity to host the Games.

He said: “We thank the committee for receiving our application and honoring us the chance to host UMEA solidarity Games this year.  We promise to make the best preparations with the guidance of Allah,”

The announcement was also witnessed by the Chairman-UMEA Sports Committee Hajji Twahil Kiteezaala, the General Secretary UMEA Sports Committee Hajji Hussein Lwembawo Kyagulanyi, Member UMEA Sports Committee and Executive Secretary of the Wakiso Secondary Schools Head Teachers’ Association-WAKISSHA Hajji NdugwaBadru, Committee Member UMEA / Executive Secretary UMTA Ntege Sabwe Abdallah and the Programmes Officer UMEA Hajji Nasser Kiwanuka Kagimu.

The event is for muslim founded schools in Uganda and will run from 19th to 22nd April 2019.

Handball: Girls-Kibuli S.S, Boys: Kibuli S S

Netball: NgandoWamala S.S
