The Kampala City Lord Mayor His Worship Erias Lukwago is back in the City after the Mayor’s Migration Council Board Meeting in New York.

His first assignment this morning was an impromptu visit to Kitintale Market where the vendors have been given a notice to vacate the premise within one week.

The Lord Mayor assured them that the construction of a modern, storied market on the land that was purchased within the vicinity was approved by his Authority and works will commence in a few months in Mutungo.

“I, together with Hon. Kabaziguruka Michael, Deputy Lord Mayor, Lord Councilors and area Mayor and Division Urban Councilors and other leaders, Visited Kitintale Market, in Mutungo parish Nakawa Division. Our impromptu visit was prompted by the Vendors’ outcry following an eviction notice by some tycoon, requiring them to vacate within 7 days”.

Lukwago says they have worked out modalities of protecting and defending the rights of the vendors.

He says in the meantime; he will engage Mr. David Ssenteza the registered proprietor and will resort to the legal process if they fail to agree.

The vendors appreciated Lukwago’s relentless struggle and thanked him for always standing with them amidst the challenging situations.
