James Redford, the filmmaker son of actor-director Robert Redford, has passed away after a battle with liver cancer. He was 58.
The documentary director, producer and activist died on Friday, with his wife of 32 years, Kyle, announcing his passing.
“He lived a beautiful, impactful life & was loved by many,” she wrote on Twitter. “He will be deeply missed. As his wife of 32 yrs, I’m most grateful for the two spectacular children we raised together. I don’t know what we would’ve done w/o them over the past 2yrs.”
Robert Redford’s publicist, Cindi Berger, subsequently released a statement on the 84-year-old’s behalf, saying: “The grief is immeasurable with the loss of a child. Jamie was a loving son, husband and father. His legacy lives on through his children, art, filmmaking and devoted passion to conservation and the environment.powered by Rubicon Project

James Redford, born David James Redford, was Robert Redford’s third child with ex-wife Lola Van Wagenen. Their first child, Scott, died of sudden infant death syndrome in 1959. They are also parents to daughters Shauna and Amy.
