Your Excellency the Vice President Emeritus, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi
Ladies and gentlemen
I would like to thank you, Your Excellency and my sister Jessica Alupo, for inviting me to join you on this occasion when you are recieving instruments of power as the Vice President of the Republic Uganda.
I thank HE President Yoweri Museveni Tibuhaburwa for elevating and appointing you to this important office of the Vice President, and for also giving me the opportunity to serve as Prime Minister of this Uganda.
To have the two of us, two ladies, in these positions of high responsibility to serve our people is historic and unprecedented. This is in addition to several other female ministers in other important positions in Cabinet and the rest of Government.
This is a clear and practical demonstration of HE President Yoweri Museveni and NRM Government’s commitment to the emancipation and empowerment of women. We do not take this for granted.
These positions of responsibility place huge expectations on us from our citizens, and moreso, from young women out there who look up to us for inspiration. It is also an opportunity for us to demonstrate that, Yes, Women Can, and that with God, nothing is impossible.
I have no doubt in my mind at all, that we will deliver on the tasks before us to ensure effective delivery of quality services to the people of Uganda, implement the NRM Manifesto, the Third National Development Plan and Vision 2040—all of which are aimed at improving the quality of life of our people by getting them into the money economy.
Your Excellency Vice President Alupo, the Office of the Prime Minister and I pledge to work closely with you and your office to ensure the harmony and unity HE President Yoweri Museveni charged us to pursue during our swearing in ceremony at Kololo on Monday.
I wish you the very best in your tenure and God’s blessings.
I thank you
At the same function, the former State Minister incharge of the Ministry of Presidency Kasirivu Atwooki handed over Office to his Successor Diana Mutasingwa Nankunda K.
