Uganda’s Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura has been arrested by Army Officers who picked him from his home in Lyatonde and flown to army headquarters in Mbuya.
According to a statement released by the Uganda Peoples Defense Force (UPDF) Spokes person Brid. Richard Karemire, states that on 12th June, a helicopter was dispatched to Lyantonde by “Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi to take him from there, but on arrival, Gen Kale Kayihura had travelled to Mbarara and so it had to return to Entebbe Airforce Base.”
However, on 13th June, a helicopter has been sent back to Kashagama, Lyantonde where Kayihura has been staying since 15th March, after handing over as IGP. Karemire says the helicopter has safely returned to Kampala with Kayihura on board.
