The U.S. Mission in Uganda has partnered with Makerere University’s Department of Performing Arts and Film, the Global Livingston Institute, and Reach a Hand Uganda to hold a musical performance “Freedom’s Soundtrack” on February 6. The concert, held during Black History Month, will feature music spanning three centuries that reflects the African American experience in the United States from slavery in the 1800’s up through the Civil Rights era of the 1960’s and through the present day. The concert will feature the Makerere University Choir, American musician Seth Sharp, and Ugandan artists Sauti Ya Africa, Sheebah, Rema, Navio, and the Janzi Band. U.S. Mission Uganda Chargé d’Affaires Christopher Krafft will provide remarks.
