State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Rev. Fr. Simon Lokodo has given a go ahead to the organizers of the MTN Nyege Nyege Festival scheduled to take place from 6 – 9 September in Jinja after consultation and discussion with the Intra government, security agencies, and the event organizers.

Earlier, Father Lokodo had written to the Ministry of Internal Affairs Hon. Jeje Odongo blocking the event which he said will comprise National Integrity.

“I now, therefore, take the opportunity to inform the public that the event is now cleared to proceed subject to the guidelines  and  conditions  we have agreed upon with the organizers which they have pledged total compliance with.” reads part of the released statement.

However, Father Lokodo cautioned the public and  event goers to be mindful  of the requirements for safety, security law and order, ethical behavior, health and sanitation as they participate  in the festival.

“The compliance and successful  conduct  of this event free of the threats and mischief while promoting our values is what we all desire.” he added
