ENTERTAINMENT: YouTube honors Ghetto Kids with Silver accolade

KAMPALA – It is a double bundle of Joy for the Triplets Ghetto Kids after YouTube rewarded them with a silver play button award for surpassing the 100k subscribers mark on the App.

Although their YouTube account was hacked thrice, the Ghetto Kids retrieved full ownership. The elated group showed their excitement on their social pages by thanking God for hitting the new milestone.

The joy of being rewarded by YouTube came at the right time, just a day after the late Michael Jackson’s sister Janet Jackson endorsed their anti-racism video.

Through her Instagram account, the “Someone To Call My Lover” singer re-posted a video of the Ghetto Kids dancing to a “Black Lives Matter” movement song by Buddy.

The Triplets Ghetto Kids (TGK) , popularly known as the Ghetto Kids, is a dance group founded in 2014 by Dauda Kavuma originally composed of children from the Katwe slum in Kampala, Uganda.

Through their diverse entertaining talents, the kids have managed to garner a huge following of fans from across the world who love to watch them dance, sing and perform on social media and on the big stages.

Over the years, TGK have managed to perform globally including at the 2017 BET awards with French Montana and Swae Lee who also featured them in their platinum collaboration song dubbed “Unforgettable”.

TGK have received several endorsements from the top global music icons and the latest is the late Michael Jackson’s sister Janet Jackson who seems mesmerized by their act.

Singer Eddy Kezo who has also been pivotal in their career took to his Facebook account and congratulated the dance group for the milestone.

“Wow God is great. The Triplets Ghetto Kids’ YouTube was hacked 3 times but they got it back and they have received their #SilverAward today for reaching 100k subscribers. Please let’s subscribe to their YouTube and help them reach 1M subscribers as well,” read the post.
