Egypt’s Army Chief of Staff attends Egyptian-Sudanese ‘Nile Eagles 1’ military drill

Egypt’s Army Chief of Staff Lt. General Mohamed Farid and Sudanese Armed Forces Chief of Staff Colonel General Mohamed Othman Al-Hussein attended the main phase of the Egyptian-Sudanese ‘Nile Eagles 1’ military drill, the Egyptian armed forces said on Friday.

The main phase of the drill included combat tasks and training activities with the aim of assuring the readiness of the personnel including fighter pilots and special forces officers participating in the joint training to carry out any mission that may be assigned to them, the Egyptian army said in a statement.

The main phase also included preparing and taking off a number of multi-mission air fighters and helicopters to carry out training tasks in the air training areas, as well as reconnaissance, interception, air and ground assistance.

‘Nile Eagles 1’ Military drill kicked off at the beginning of the week in Sudan with the participation of units from Egyptian air forces and Egypt special forces “Thunderbolt”.

Delivering a speech at the event, Farid conveyed greetings from Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El Sisi and Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki to all the political and military leaderships in Sudan.

He also lauded the combat readiness of the participating personnel, which he said qualifies them to carry out all the missions that may be assigned to them under various circumstances.

From his side, Sudanese Chief of Staff Col. General Mohamed Othman Al-Hussein praised the visit of his Egyptian counterpart and expressed his hope that the upcoming period would witness more joint cooperation and collaboration between the Sudanese armed forces and Egyptian armed forces
