Coronavirus: Ugandan President hails his opposition opponent for his contribution to fight Covid-19

KAMPALA — President Museveni has thanked the People Power Movement for donating relief items through the national taskforce.

“People Power, Kamwokya has contributed 50 bags of posho, 30 cartons of salt, 30 boxes of soap,” Museveni said while addressing the nation.

“Thank you so much,” President Museveni said amid smiles.“Now you see! You are joining the people now,” he added.

While flagging off the donations, the Kyadondo East MP said that as People Power, they have been receiving numerous calls from across the country on how they can give help because the lockdown has affected many people. Mr Kyagulanyi Sent any added that they could not give immediate help to these people given their little resources, but said that decided to take advantage of the national taskforce.

Previously, President Museveni had warned politicians and other Ugandans against distributing food to people, saying this would increase the risk of spreading coronavirus.

The items were delivered to the Ministry of Health by the People Power leader of women’s league Ms Flavia Kalule.

Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng received the items and asked them to encourage their supporters to maintain social distance as one of the guidelines issued by the government to fight Covid-19.
