NAIROBI, KENYA — Cocacola has finally responded to viral photos of a Baringo girl which have been trending for the better part of the day as she joyfully sips the Coke drink.
Kenyans on Monday widely shared the photos of the girl asking the global company to use her as their brand ambassador.
However, the company has maintained their policy of not using anyone below the age of 12 years in its marketing.
“This is pure happiness. You’ve made us smile by sharing this beautiful image. As a company we have made a decision not to use children under the age of 12 in our adverts and marketing worldwide, but we do love seeing the creativity and passion for our brand,” the company responded on Twitter.
The girl, 5-year-old Joy Jebiwot, from Mogotio Sub-County, Baringo, became a sensation on social media after her pictures went viral for some days now with the latest being photos of her holding a Coca cola bottle.
The photos are said to have been taken by Daggy Shy, a Baringo born photographer, and have since been shared widely by internet users showering praise on the budding model.
Earlier, the father of the girl had expressed his joy in the virality of the photos maintaining he was okay if the company decided to work with his daughter.
“If it is possible for her to be made a Coca-Cola brand ambassador, it is okay,” Jacob Keror, the father of the girl stated.
Netizens even went ahead and photo shopped the girl on various Coke banners especially upon learning of the company’s marketing policies.
