Chad: ‘More than 250 rebels’ captured in convoy raid

N’DJAMENA, Chad

More than 250 rebels have been captured by the Chadian Military during an operation against militants crossing from Libya.

According to a statement released by the military, it said among those detained included “four leaders”of the armed groups, forty rebel vehicles detained and hundreds of weapons seized.

Last week, the French military in alliance with the Chad military used war planes to attack a rebel convoy in the Ennedi region

French troops are currently deployed in Chad as part of Operation Barkhane – an ongoing coalition effort in Africa’s Sahel region to fight jihadist insurgents.
