President Donald Trump has said he will halt applications of foreign nationals seeking permanent residence in the US because of the coronavirus crisis.
Trump said on Tuesday that he would order a temporary halt in issuing green cards to prevent people from immigrating to the United States, but he backed away from plans to suspend guest worker programs after business groups exploded in anger at the threat of losing access to foreign labor.

He cast his decision to “suspend immigration,” which he first announced on Twitter, as a move to protect American workers and their jobs from foreign competition. More than 22 million Americans have lost their jobs in the economic devastation caused by the virus and efforts to contain it.

US President Donald Trump has said he is going to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) because it has "failed in its basic duty" in its response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The president faulted the WHO for, in his view, failing to adequately investigate early information about the virus’s ability to spread from one human to another and for not calling out China on its alleged lack of transparency over the virus.
Trump, who had telegraphed his intentions last week, claimed the outbreak could have been contained at its source and that lives could have been saved had the U.N. health agency done a better job investigating the early reports coming out of China.

Apollo lunar program has died, NASA says.
Worden was command module pilot on the Apollo 15 lunar landing -- and although he never got to walk on the moon, he performed three spacewalks on the flight back from the moon to retrieve film from cameras on the spacecraft, according to NASA.
As astronauts David Scott and James

He died Wednesday in Texas at the

BEIJING/WASHINGTON/NEW YORK- China is withdrawing the press
credentials of American journalists at three U.S. newspapers, intensifying a
bitter fight between the world’s top two economies that has widened to include
the coronavirus outbreak and media freedoms.
Beijing announced on Wednesday what
it said was retaliation against U.S. restrictions on Chinese journalists that
includes revoking the accreditations of American correspondents with the New

credentials expire by the end of 2020.
The move is a sharp escalation of a
dispute that saw Washington last month force Chinese state media firms to

WASHINGTON — For weeks, President Trump has minimized the coronavirus, mocked concern about it and treated the risk from it cavalierly. On Tuesday he took to the White House lectern and made a remarkable assertion: He knew it was a pandemic all along.
“This is a pandemic,” Mr. Trump told
reporters. “I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.”
This is what Mr. Trump has actually
said over the past two months:
On Jan. 22, asked by a CNBC reporter
whether there were “worries about a pandemic,” the president replied: “No, not
at all. We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China,
and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Tuesday was supposed to be Super Tuesday, the sequel, with four big-state contests. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Ohio - and its 136 delegates - has indefinitely delayed its in-person voting, even though many in the state have already cast early or absentee ballots.
The primaries were held as scheduled
in the other three states of Illinois, Florida and Arizona,. The latter two
have robust early voting systems, which mean any drop in same-day balloting had
less of an effect on total turnout.
In Arizona, for instance, early
voting exceeded the entire turnout in the state's 2016 Democratic primary - and
the state was called for Biden just a few hours after polls closed there.
Illinois, however, relies heavily on
election-day turnout - and reports from the state indicate th...
