China has fired another salvo, warning  the United States to stop the “unreasonable suppression of Huawei and Chinese enterprises” after Washington announced new export controls to restrict the tech giant’s access to semiconductor technology. The latest restrictions on the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei, which is at the centre of US spying allegations, are a new escalation in the US-China battle for global technological dominance. As the U.S. death toll from the coronavirus topped 67,000 on Sunday, President Trump expressed confidence about reopening the nation’s economy and offered support to protesters who have demonstrated against the restrictions still in place in many states. “We are very confident we are going to have a vaccine by the end of the year,” Trump said.
