The inspector general of police, Martins Okoth Ochola has ordered for an investigation into the conduct of seven people including police officers and civilians over allegations of leaking into public domain police documents.    A source at the Naguru police headquarters told URN that Ochola ordered the probe after documents meant for the top police leadership were found with junior officers.  “The IGP was very bitter after learning that even constables were getting copies of information meant for assistant inspector generals of police and other officers at least in acting capacity as directors. UGANDA: Police operations director AIGP Asuman Mugenyi quits.

The director of Operations Services in the Police Force, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asuman Mugenyi has officially quit the institution he has served for over 32 years. AIGP Mugenyi served his last day in police uniform on Friday, May 29 and has since handed over to his deputy Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) John Nuwagiira. KAMPALA – Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga has advised private car drivers to continue respecting the presidential directives especially on curfew. In his 14th address, President Museveni said private cars will be allowed back on the road with effect from May 26 as government starts fo lift the lock down. While addressing the press on Monday, Enanga said drivers who defy the presidential directives will be arrested and their vehicles impounded. “All the vehicles must observe curfew time. Whoever will go past 7pm, the vehicle will be impounded and occupants arrested, taken to court and charged with disobeying the presidential directive,” he said. On Tuesday 5th March 2020, Uganda recorded 2 more COVID-19 cases at the border with Tanzania. One of the two Ugandans who tested positive is a police officer from Kyotera District. This brings to two the number of men in uniform found with the deadly virus in a space of three days. Days after a police officer from Masindi in Bunyoro sub region tested positive, another officer who works at Mutukula border post police in Kyotera district was found to be carrying the virus through the ongoing rapid risk assessment survey in selected areas. Police are still investigating the cause of fire outbreak in a students’ dormitory at Gayaza High School in Kasangati town council, Wakiso District. According to the DPC Kasangati, Mr Edison Muhangi, the fire started at 7.40pm on Friday at Corby Block A and razed it down. There was panic following the fire reports as several parents rushed to the school to find out what had happened to their children, but were denied access. A number of people from within the community offered a helping hand to put out the fire, but the school authorities and the police kept the gate closed.
