It’s almost time for the Copa America final, with South American giants Brazil and Argentina facing off for the crown. Neymar surpassed Ronaldo on the country’s all-time goals list after Brazil beat Peru 4-0 in their Copa America Group B encounter at the Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos in Brazil. Brazil coach Tite rotated the lineup, giving starts to Ederson, Alex Sandro, Thiago Silva, Everton and Gabriel Barbosa. The hosts took the lead after 12 minutes when Alex Sandro volleyed home a cut back from Gabriel Jesus. With Fabinho a commanding presence in midfield and Neymar always dangerous going forward, Brazil took more control as the game went on and Neymar got a second midway through the second half. Neymar’s marker gave him too much space the Brazilian fired a low shot past a Peru goalkeeper Pedro Gallese from just outside the box. It was Neymar’s fourth goal in Brazil’s last four matc...

Peru’s Interim President couldn’t stand the heat, resigns after a Tumultuous Week Of Protests

AFRICA, INTERNATIONAL, Peru, POLITICS, UN Human RiGHTS
Manuel Merino, former speaker of Congress, had been in the post less than a week. Facing widespread opposition, Peru’s interim president stepped down on Sunday, his sixth day on the job, plunging a country already facing an economic tailspin and a devastating pandemic into a constitutional crisis. He replaced President Martín Vizcarra, who last Monday was removed in an impeachment procedure over bribery allegations, which he denies. Politicians had called for Mr Merino's resignation after a violent crackdown on demonstrations against him. Twelve ministers from his recently appointed cabinet resigned earlier on Sunday in protest against police brutality and his handling of the crisis. The week-long rallies descended into chaos late on Saturday. At least 112 people were injure...
