How good is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti for creatives?

Computing, ELECTRIC, GADGET, GAMING, TECHNOLOGY
We test out the RTX 3080 Ti using creative tools If you’ve read our full Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti review, you’ll have seen that it is an excellent graphics card when it comes to gaming, even rivaling the mighty RTX 3090. However, Nvidia is also keen to stress how good this new GPU is at creative tasks as well, so we decided to give it a spin, to see if it’s a GPU that’s worth buying for creatives. In the past, if you did creative work that required a graphics card, you’d often have to rely on professional GPUs, such as Nvidia’s Quadro range. These are extremely expensive, and for many people overkill. The good news is that as gaming GPUs have improved over the years, their abilities to handle creative tasks has also improved. In fact, Nvidia has done a sterling job in th...

Your Amazon Echo Will Share Your Wireless Network With Neighbors, Unless You Opt Out

Computing, DIGITAL, GADGET, TECHNOLOGY
Amazon is building a wireless network – using your internet bandwidth. It's called Amazon Sidewalk, and the company touts it as a way to help its devices work better, by extending the range of low-bandwidth devices to help them stay online. It does that by pooling neighbors' bandwidth to help connectivity for devices that are out of range. The network already includes certain Ring Floodlight Cam and Spotlight models as of late last year. Compatible Amazon Echo devices will be added to the network on Tuesday. Ring Doorbell Pro devices will be able to access Sidewalk, too. Amazon's size almost guarantees Amazon Sidewalk will soon be in widespread use. Here's how it works. Let's say you and your next-door neighbors both have devices that Amazon has added to its Sidewalk...

Google launches Pixel Buds A-Series for $99

Computing, ELECTRIC, GADGET, TECHNOLOGY
Much like how Pixel smartphones are followed by an affordable Pixel A alternative, Google has introduced the Pixel Buds A-Series. Despite costing less than the standard Pixel Buds, Google's new earbuds don't skimp on many features. There's not much to separate them in terms of design either. The Pixel Buds A Series is rated IPX4 to withstand drizzle and sweat. The earbuds have a capacitive touch to let users control music playback and receive calls. Moreover, it supports hands-free voice commands enabling you to ask Google to read messages or even translate text in real-time. Each Pixel Buds Series A packs in a 12mm driver. The earbuds feature dual beam-forming mics to reduce noise during calls. As per Google, its Adaptive Sound tech automatically controls volume based on your s...

The ultra-thin lightweight design is set to be a serious photography phone In the closing minutes of Huawei’s two-hour product launch, which included its new Harmony OS, Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei MatePad Pro, it provided more details of the new P50 Smartphon that was due this spring. The launch it seems has been delayed due to the continuing chip shortages and no date has been set for its release. However, the short promo video did give us some more clues to the specification. The back of the Huawei P50 features two large circular camera bumps, one with three camera lenses and the second with a single lens and a flash. Like the P40, it also showed off Leica branding next to the camera – the text underneath describes the same Leica Vario-Summilux-H 1:1.8-3.4 / 18-125 ASPH...

At the developer conference, Nadella explained his excitement by saying the update was arriving "very soon," and that it would be "one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade" If you head on over to the livestream invite page, you get to see that the upcoming event is going to be focussed upon "what's next for Windows". Additionally, you get the date/time (11am ET [4pm in UK], Thursday 24th June) but that is all. However, there is something odd about the large invite image… An animated version of the above has been shared on Microsoft's Twitter account. Above you can s...

Parents! Where would we be without them? Nonexistent, is the answer, and so we must thank them for our existence in this world. No matter how Philip Larkin feels on the subject, it’s that time of the year where we celebrate our parents and reward them for raising us. If you’re looking for a gift for your father, or the person who held that role in your life irrespective of their gender, we’ve got a list for you. A lot of gift guides these days like to pretend that our parents were born during the baby boom, even if that’s nowhere near true anymore. After all, if your parents are knocking on 50, then the first war they can remember likely featured Luke Skywalker. That means they’re likely as plugged-in to gadgets and technology as the rest of us. It’s just that they’re waiting for you t...
Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think

Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think

Computing, ELECTRIC, GADGET, TECHNOLOGY
I know, you probably haven't even driven one yet, let alone seriously contemplated buying one, so the prediction may sound a bit bold, but bear with me. We are in the middle of the biggest revolution in motoring since Henry Ford's first production line started turning back in 1913. And it is likely to happen much more quickly than you imagine. Many industry observers believe we have already passed the tipping point where sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will very rapidly overwhelm petrol and diesel cars. It is certainly what the world's big car makers think. Jaguar plans to sell only electric cars from 2025, Volvo from 2030 and last week the British sportscar company Lotus said it would follow suit, selling only electric models from 2028 And it isn't just premium...

· Rumour (Pocket-lint) - There have been a number of rumours surrounding the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro over the last couple of months, including full renders of their designs. The latest leak offers some more information on their cameras though. According to leaker @FrontTron (via mysmartprice), the Pixel 6 devices will come with a gimbal-like steady camera mode and big improvements in video. The leaker also claimed on Twitter that the devices would sport a Google custom neural processing unit (NPU) and image signal processor (ISP) that would be better than the Pixel 5, and there would be a bigger Samsung sensor on board. Previous rumours have claimed the Pixel 6 would have a dual camera and the Pixel 6 Pro would offer a triple rear camera. It's said both would have a 50-me...
