Belgium Producer Inflation at Near 4-Year High
Belgium’s producer prices surged by 8 percent from a year earlier in March of 2021, after rising by 3.6 percent in the previous month. This was the highest producer inflation rate since May 2017, as prices rose by 9.3 percent in the domestic market and by 6 percent in the non-domestic market. Consumer prices in Slovenia went up 2.1 percent year-on-year in April of 2021, following a 0.1 percent gain in the previous month. It was the highest annual inflation rate since January 2020 mainly due to higher prices of housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels (11.2 percent). Upward pressure came from goods prices (3.6 percent), particularly non-durable goods (5.2 percent) while services cost dropped 0.7 percent. Prices of recreation and culture (-2.5 percent) and communications (-2 percent) recorded the highest decline. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1 percent, following a 0.3 percent gain in each of the previous two months.
