Willian shines on his debut
Willian was, of course, one of two permanent arrivals to land at the Emirates this summer.
The Brazilian had previously plied his trade with Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea.
But after his contract expired recently, the Gunners snapped Willian up on a free.
A transfer which, if the winger’s debut performance was anything to go by, may prove to be one of the deals of the window.
Mikel Arteta and co. would face off with Fulham on the opening weekend of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
The Gunners completely dominated the tie and eventually came away with a 3-0 victory.
Willian started said tie and played a crucial role in all three of the Gunners’ goals that day.
Willian heaps praise on Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are now set to face off with West Ham on Saturday evening.
Ahead of Arsenal’s latest tie, Willian has been discussing his new manager.
Willian played in some quality Chelsea sides under some top bosses during his seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge – including Jose Mourinho.
So, when he recently backed Arteta to become one of the best managers in the world, it should really be seen as quite the endorsement:
“I am very impressed with him. He is a very intelligent manager.
“Since we met the first time, I was very impressed with his ideas – how to play, how to manage the game.
“I think in years he will be one of the best managers in the Premier League and in the world as well.”
