ACODEV has responded by donating 2000kgs(2 tonnes) of Maize flour to the National Taskforce to fight Covid19

Kampala,Uganda:

Following the Covid19 pandemic that has caused fatal setbacks in implementation of government programs globally and nationally, and in line with the President’s initiative to fight and control the spread of the disease, while reducing its effects on vulnerable communities, ACODEV  has responded by donating 2000kgs(2 tonnes) of Maize flour to the National Taskforce through the Office of the Prime Minister and were received by Hon, Mary Karooro Okurut, the Minister of General duties in the Prime Ministers office.

These were delivered by Ms Norah Ithungu Matsande,the Board Chairperson, and  Mr. Joshua Ainabyona, the Executive Director ACODEV.

, ACODEV ACODEV also donated to the various district Task force of Kasese where 1000kg of Maize flour, 500kg of Beans, 50 cartons of Soap, 200 kg of Salt, Fuel to District Health Office and supported the district in the printing of  assorted IEC materials on Covid19. Other districts including Ajumani were provided Fuel to support DHO’s office in response to Covid19.

Action for community Development (ACODEV), is an indigenous National NGO established in 2003 that envisions a society where Children, Women and Men are happy, healthy and economically productive. The Organization exists to empower individuals, communities in East Africa through the promotion of innovative solutions in the areas of human rights, Hiv/Aids epidemic control, Gender based violence, reproductive and child health and institutional capacity strengthening. Over the years, Acodev has implemented OVC interventions with the aim of improving the health, nutrition, education and psychosocial wellbeing of OVC as well as reducing abuse, exploitation and neglect among the population. Acodev with funding from various partner organizations such Bergstrom Foundation, Izumi Foundation, Stephen Lewis Foundation, Frontline Aids and USAID funding in partnership with CRS, is currently in more than 28 districts in Uganda implementing various projects related to Family Planning, Maternal Child Health,   System strengthening in response to OVC care and support due to HIV and Aids, and sexual reproductive health targeting young people 10 -24 years of age. ACODEV’s other areas of focus include: Gender and human rights, Education, Climate Change and disaster risk reduction and organizational capacity development.
