At least one person has lost his life, and three others are nursing injuries after a City Shuttle bus lost control and crashed into several vehicles on the morning of Monday, March 9.
Preliminary reports indicate the incident occurred near the Pan- Afric Hotel along the busy Valley Road, temporarily disrupting traffic along the route.
Images and videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke show the left front side of the vehicle completely destroyed.
Witnesses say the vehicle lost its brakes, veered off the road, and collided with oncoming traffic. The bus reportedly struck three vehicles, some of which sustained considerable damage.
“We had an accident today, whereby a city shuttle bus lost control because its brakes failed and rammed into three vehicles, and one person is deceased and three are injured. Every person is okay, apart from a motorbike rider who was dragged for a long distance,” one witness said.
Police and emergency responders were spotted on-site trying to help with rescue efforts and restoring traffic along the route.
The vehicle has since been towed from the scene to kickstart investigations and determine what exactly happened.
In recent years, Valley Road has developed a notorious reputation for crashes in the city, with most of the incidents being linked to PSVs. As recently as in October 2025, a Citi Hoppa bus lost control and toppled on its side near Serena Hotel, with reports suggesting it lost control moments before the crash.
The latest incident comes hours after the Ministry of Health confirmed that three people had lost their lives and 19 others were left nursing injuries after an accident in the Otonglo area, Kisumu county.
The Ministry’s statement came amid reports circulated that a vehicle from the Health CS’s motorcade had been involved in the crash, allegations the Ministry denied.
The CS encountered the accident in the Otonglo area while travelling from Rarieda to Kisumu International Airport, according to the Ministry.
The ministry claims that Duale immediately stopped at the scene and mobilised an emergency medical response to assist the victims.
“The motorcade of the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale, today stopped at the scene of a road traffic accident at Otonglo, near the Molasses Plant in Kisumu, where the Cabinet Secretary mobilised an emergency medical response to assist the victims,” the ministry stated.
