Butambala County legislator Muwanga Kivumbi and the Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for Buganda in Court.
The Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for Buganda, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, was remanded to 17th of February 2026 for mention of the terrorism case against him, after prosecution requested for more time for investigations to be concluded.
During the court session, Muwanga Kivumbi’s lawyers complained about what they called unfairness on the part of police and prosecution.

Lawyers led by Medard Lubega Segona, Erias Lukwago , Sam Muyizi, Kenneth Paul Kakande, and Asuman Basalirwa raised concern that their client was denied the right to know the charges against him during arrest
They say Muwanga Kivumbi was smuggled to court without notifying his next of kin or lawyers and only learnt about the charges in court.
Basalirwa also noted that their client is being charged in court with a different matter from what is being investigated by police.
Basalirwa told court that on record, police is investigating inciting violence and malicious damage yet prosecution has charged him with acts of terrorism.
Muwanga Kivumbi returns to court on the 17th of February 2026 for mention of the case.
