Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has issued a public warning after discovering that a woman identified as Ms. Jacinther Hamba has been falsely presenting herself as a Pharmacy student at the institution.

According to an official statement jointly released by the University Security Department and the Office of the Academic Registrar, verification exercises confirmed that Ms. Hamba is not a registered student in any programme at MUST.

“The Academic Registrar’s Office confirms that Ms. Jacinther Hamba is NOT a registered student of MUST,” the statement reads.

University authorities have urged all students, staff members, and the general public not to engage with her in any capacity related to MUST, warning that any interaction under the assumption that she is affiliated with the university is fraudulent.

The alert comes as universities across the country tighten identity verification procedures to curb impersonation, academic fraud, and misuse of institutional credentials.

MUST has encouraged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to university security.
