- The ceremony was led by His Worship Sam Atul, Mayor of Lira City, and attended by MTN MoMo teams led by Chief Commercial Officer Keith Tukei.
- The handover was followed by a market-wide cleaning exercise involving MoMo staff, city officials, traders, and residents, demonstrating unity and commitment to a cleaner, greener Lira.
- The initiative aligns with MTN’s Ambition 2025 Strategy, which prioritizes sustainable growth, community upliftment, and environmental stewardship alongside digital innovation.
Wednesday 19th November 2025 – Lira, Uganda: MTN MoMo today received the official handover of Lira Main Market from Lira City leadership in a ceremony that also marked the start of a collaborative effort to clean, enhance, and beautify one of the city’s most important commercial hubs.

Led by His Worship Mayor Sam Atul, the event brought together city clerks, the Resident City Commissioner, MTN MoMo staff, and market vendors in a unified exercise focused on urban cleanliness, community pride, and long-term market improvement.

Following the handover, participants engaged in a city-led market cleaning exercise, reinforcing the shared responsibility to maintain a hygienic and well-organized commercial environment.
