KAMPALA, Uganda – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima has been released on bail following his arrest for assaulting a female fuel attendant, an incident that was captured on video and sparked widespread public outrage

A 34-year-old police officer, ASP Clive Nsiima Barigye, attached to Anti Terrorism Directorate has been granted bail by the City Hall Court in Kampala, where he is facing charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

Appearing before Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aiso, Nsiima was released on bail of 1 million shillings, while his three sureties including Mushabe Daniel (uncle), Iguma Mark (brother), and Nkwasi Cissy (sister) were each bonded at 5 million shillings non-cash.

Prosecution, led by State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho, told court that on October 7, 2025, at Shell Kyanja, Nsiima assaulted and injured a woman identified as Atuhumurize Pellan during a heated confrontation. He is also accused of damaging her blue Infinix Hot smartphone in the same incident.

Yamangusho described Nsiima’s conduct as “disgraceful and unbecoming of a police officer,” adding that such acts of violence undermine public trust in the Force.

The prosecution further revealed that investigations are complete and that all witness statements have been recorded.

Magistrate Aiso ordered Nsiima to appear in court on November 6, 2025, for the next hearing. He also cautioned the accused against interfering with witnesses or attempting to obstruct the ongoing case.

The case has drawn widespread public interest after a video of the alleged assault circulated on social media, prompting condemnation.

Nsiima has since been subjected to disciplinary committee of the police. On Monday this week, the police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke said the police wouldn’t interfere any further since there is an ongoing court case to prove whether his innocent or guilty
