Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo wins Chicago Marathon, Amos Kipruto comes second

Jacob Kiplimo’s speed dropped while reaching the finishing line but he still finished 91 seconds ahead of the second placed.

Ugandan runner turned out to be become champion of the 2025 Chicago Marathon. The 24-year-old finished the race with an unofficial time of 02:02:23 on just his second ever run over 26.2 miles. Kiplimo broke the record of the defending champion and the current Boston champion John Korir after going half-way mark in a blazing 1:00:16.

It turned out to be a big win for Jacob Kiplimo as he only made his marathon debut in London in April 2025. He came second in the London Marathon to Sebastian Sawe completing the race in 02:03:37. At one point in the Chicago Marathon, he was about to break late Kelvin Kiptum’s world record.

Kenya’s Amos Kipruto comes second in Chicago Marathon

Jacob Kiplimo’s speed dropped while reaching the finishing line but he still finished 91 seconds ahead of the second placed. Talking about the second position, Kenya’s Amos Kipruto finished as the runners-up after completing the race in the unofficial time of 2:03:54. Talking about the Women’s category, Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa finished in the first place with the time of 2:14:56 while her country mate Megertu Alemu finished as the runners-up completing the race in the time of 2:17:18.
