Kampala, Uganda- 19th  September 2025.  MTN Uganda’s corporate social responsibility arm, the MTN Foundation, has graduated 103 youths from the second cohort of its MTN ACE Initiative, a programme providing digital, business and entrepreneurial skills.

Of 154 youths admitted, 103 completed the programme. Forty-four of these advanced through the ACE Career path, which combines practical training with internships and 13 have secured employment at MTN Uganda.

Since the initiative began in 2022, 188 youths have graduated, with 21 joining MTN Uganda in different departments.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony held at the MTN Headquarters in Kampala, Enid Edroma, General Manager for Corporate Services at MTN Uganda, underscored the MTN ACE’s initiative in addressing youth unemployment and advancing digital transformation.

“We, at MTN Uganda, believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a modern, connected life and that means access to education, skills and meaningful opportunities,” Edroma said.

“We are pleased to see this initiative gaining momentum and making an impact as reflected in the achievements of our latest graduates. We hope the skills and knowledge you have acquired give you confidence and inspire you to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s digital and economic transformation.”

Michael Sekadde, General Manager of Human Resources, added: “The programme goes beyond training; it empowers youth to participate meaningfully in national development.”

This development comes at the time statistics from the World Bank and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development shows while the country’s population stands at about 45 million, 75% are under the age of 30. However, 13% are unemployed.

Launched with an investment of UGX 2.17 billion, MTN ACE aligns with MTN Uganda’s Ambition 2025 strategy, Uganda’s National Development Plan III, and the Digital Transformation Roadmap, while supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals on education, gender equality, decent work, and reduced inequalities.

The initiative is delivered with partners including the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, Makerere University Business School’s Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation Centre, Centenary Technology Services, Engage Consult, the National ICT Innovation Hub, and MTN MoMo Uganda.

MTN Uganda is also advancing youth skilling through the MTN Skills Academy and ICT lab rollouts countrywide.
