Friday, 12 September 2025– MTN Uganda has been named Employer of the Year 2025 by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE), winning the Gold Category award for the second consecutive year.

The recognition was announced at the Employer of the Year Awards Dinner held on Thursday evening at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The accolade followed a nationwide survey of more than 1,300 respondents across 130 companies. The evaluation covered key areas such as workplace culture, talent management, sustainability, compliance, diversity and inclusion, as well as refugee integration in the workplace.

MTN Uganda, which employs over 1,323 staff with a gender balance of roughly 52% male and 48% female, was commended for fostering an inclusive, performance-driven, and people-centered workplace.

Douglas Opio, Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Employers, said the award recognised MTN Uganda’s people—“their passion, resilience, and everyday commitment to making a difference.”

Michael Ssekade, General Manager for Human Resources at MTN Uganda, welcomed the recognition, noting that it reflected the company’s commitment to excellence.

“This award is a testament to MTN’s dedication to creating a workplace where our people feel valued, empowered, and inspired to deliver their best every day,” he said.

Sylvia Mulinge, the Chief Executive Officer at MTN Uganda, dedicated the award to the company’s employees.

“At MTN, we live by the mantra: People First, Mission Always. Here, culture is the strategy , when people are valued, ideas are encouraged, and inclusion is at the heart of what we do, the results speak for themselves.  This award is proof that when culture leads, success follows,” she said.

“We are deeply grateful to the Federation of Uganda Employers for this honour, to our partners and stakeholders for their support, and above all to our customers. You are the reason behind our mission, and the drive behind everything we do.”

The Employer of the Year Awards, organised biennially by FUE, are considered Uganda’s most prestigious workplace accolades, celebrating organisations that excel in workforce management and contribute significantly to the country’s socio-economic development.

Michael Ssekade, GM Human Resources at MTN Uganda (R), celebrates the company’s Employer of the Year award with Douglas Opio, CEO of the Federation of Uganda Employers, at Mestil Hotel in Kampala on Sept.12, 2025.
