The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted three senior officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to higher ranks in a latest move aimed at reshaping the country’s military’s top leadership.
One hundred twenty two Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF officers were decorated on Monday at a colorful function held at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Mbuya following their promotion.
Those promoted to major general included among other Stephen Kashaka, Uganda’s Uganda Military attache to Tanzania, John Mateeka, Hussein Ada, Fred Ocitti Tolit Uganda’s Military attaché to Burundi and James Ssebagala, the Nakasongola Cantonment Commander.
Those promoted to Brigadier are Abel Kandiho and Don Nabasa, the Commandant Chieftainance of Military Intelligience and Special Forces Commander respectively.
Also elevated in the recent promotions are former UPDF spokesperson Paddy Ankunda who becomes a Colonel, and Commandant Oliver Tambo Leadership School Chris Ogumelaki among others.
