Sam Engola Officially Nominated for NRM Northern Vice Chairperson Position

Kampala, Uganda –  Hon. Sam Engola has been duly nominated for the position of NRM Regional Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda.

“The people of Northern Uganda have asked me to step forward and lead this charge, and I am ready to serve them with dedication,” Engola said.

This development is seen as a major boost for the people of Northern Uganda, as their very own Engola is poised to return to a top position as a member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC)—a role that will undoubtedly help the NRM retain its strength and support in the region.

Senior Presidential Advisor Sam Engola was officially nominated and cleared on Tuesday to run for NRM Northern Vice Chairperson by NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi, in Kampala.

Senior Presidential Advisor Sam Engola was officially nominated and cleared on Tuesday to run for NRM Northern Vice Chairperson by NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi, in Kampala.

Engola, a senior Presidential Advisor for the Lango sub-region and a long-serving National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre, expressed gratitude for the support he has received.

In an extended interview with the media, Engola outlined his key priorities, which include:

  • Strengthening NRM party mobilization to ensure broader grassroots engagement

  • Promoting party unity and reconciliation among members

  • Enhancing accountability within party structures

  • Popularizing the NRM manifesto to deepen public understanding of government programs

  • Recruiting non-members and opposition supporters into the NRM

  • Championing wealth creation initiatives to uplift communities in Northern Uganda

In addition to his bid for the NRM Northern Vice Chairmanship, Engola is also contesting for the Erute South Constituency parliamentary seat. He appealed to the people of Erute South and the broader Lango sub-region to support his vision for transformative leadership.

If elected as Member of Parliament, Engola pledged to focus on:

  • Improving infrastructure, including roads and public facilities

  • Expanding electricity access to underserved areas

  • Empowering youth and women through wealth creation initiatives

  • Leading the fight against poverty by supporting income-generating projects

  • Uniting Lira District toward lasting development

Engola, a seasoned politician and loyal NRM member, has served in various capacities, including as a Member of Parliament and State Minister. His latest move signals his continued commitment to consolidating NRM’s influence in Northern Uganda while addressing the region’s socio-economic challenges.

As the NRM prepares for internal elections, Engola’s candidacy is expected to energize the party’s grassroots base and reinforce its dominance in the region.
