Pakistan and India Engaged in One of the Largest Air Battles in History — CNN
Pakistan and India have conducted one of the largest air battles in modern aviation history. The over-hour-long clash involved around 125 fighter jets from both sides.
CNN reports this, citing its own sources.
According to the outlet, during this battle, Pakistani forces managed to shoot down 5 Indian fighter jets. At the same time, neither side left its own airspace — the pilots fired at each other from a distance of over 160 km.
As CNN writes, Indian Air Force pilots carried out multiple sorties per day to strike targets. Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities, according to the outlet’s source, “did everything possible to prevent civilian casualties.”
Pakistan launched a ballistic attack on Amritsar airport in India’s Punjab state, reports Clash Report.
According to media reports, this move by Pakistan was a continuation of yesterday’s escalation.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that India attacked innocent women and children yesterday, and any attempt by India to stop or redirect water supplies to Pakistan will be considered an act of war.
Pakistan reported more than 30 deaths as a result of Indian strikes, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, the Indian side reported that 12 civilians were killed and 57 wounded in Pakistani shelling of the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir.
It all began with a terrorist attack in the Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir. On April 22, militants opened fire on dozens of tourists. The attack claimed the lives of 26 people: one citizen of Nepal and 25 citizens of India.
Following this, for about two weeks, gunfire continued along the Pakistan-India border, with both sides accusing each other of provocations.
Eventually, on the night of May 7, the Indian Armed Forces officially launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine targets in Pakistan and “Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” from where terrorist attacks against India were allegedly being planned. However, they stated that Pakistani military facilities were not among the targets.
The head of Pakistan’s army declared that 26 people were killed in the shelling carried out by India. In turn, Indian police reported 10 killed and 48 wounded as a result of Pakistan’s shelling of Indian Kashmir.
