Brentford have signed Dutch centre-back Sepp van den Berg from Liverpool on a five-year deal.
The 22-year-old, who stands at 6ft 4in tall, spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Mainz, making 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.
He has also played on loan at another German club, Schalke 04, along with a spell at Preston North End in the Championship.
“Sepp is a centre-back with a good level and he has the potential to develop even further,” Brentford head coach Thomas Frank told the official club website.
“He fits our culture and the way we want to play: he is quick, he reads the game well and is composed on the ball in the build-up and in the decisive defending actions.
“Sepp is a great character, and I am convinced that he will fit in well with the group and help us to push forward.”
Brentford are next in action on Sunday, when they travel to Van den Berg’s former club Liverpool.
Berge completes move to Fulham
Fulham have completed the signing of Sander Berge from Burnley on a five-year contract, with an option to extend by a further 12 months. He will wear the No 16 shirt at Craven Cottage.
The 26-year-old rose to prominence after moving to Belgian side KRC Genk in 2017 from Norwegian club Valerenga. He made 113 appearances for Genk, winning the league title and super cup, before moving to Sheffield United ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
He then joined Burnley in the summer of 2023 and played in 37 of their 38 league matches last season.
“It feels fantastic. It’s been a little bit back and forth the last few weeks, but I’m finally sitting here in the shirt in this beautiful stadium, knowing that my future is here, which feels great,” Berge said on Fulham’s website.
“Fulham has always been a team that excited me. I’ve played them both in the Championship and Premier League, and it’s fantastic how they play, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1.
“The DNA of the Club is to be dominant, aggressive, front-footed, and play nice football, and I think that suits me.”
Moreno joins Forest on loan from Villa
Nottingham Forest have signed Alex Moreno from Aston Villa on a season-long loan, with the club having an option to make the move permanent.
The 31-year-old will wear the No 19 shirt and arrives at the City Ground after making 48 appearances for Villa in all competitions since his move from Real Betis in January 2023, including 29 last season where he played a key role in their qualification for this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Prior to his move to Villa, Moreno spent most of his career in Spain with Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis, making 127 and 122 appearances respectively. He was also part of the Real Betis side that won the Copa del Rey in 2022.
“Alex is a player we have had a long-standing interest in so we are naturally all very happy to see him arrive at Nottingham Forest today,” chief football officer Ross Wilson said on the club’s website.
“He has amassed significant experience in LaLiga and the Premier League, and he brings all of that quality and experience to our group now.”
