How to apply for the MTN Pulse, Victoria University scholarships

MTN PULSE + VICTORIA UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the MTN Pulse in partnership with Victoria university scholarship campaign. By uploading on social media and tagging @mtnug, @victoriauniversity and   #MTNPulse you confirm that you have read these Terms and Conditions and that you agree to be bound by them.

1. APPLICATION AND ENTRY
   • Application and entry will be on Victoria University website and social media
   • Phase 1: Apply on Victoria university website: vu.ac.ug or https://eadmissions.vu.ac.ug/

Steps on how to apply

• Click vu.ac.ug or https://eadmissions.vu.ac.ug/
• Create a new account and login by filling in the email address and your names.
• Fill in the details in the application form
• Click on MTN PULSE in the section of how you got to know about Victoria University.
• Submit the application form.
• Phase 2: record a 1 minute video of yourself pitching why you deserve the scholarship and post on social media. Tag @mtnug, @Victoria University and #MTN PULSE. Get your friends to like share and enagenge with your post.
• Phase 3: Top 20 applicants will then be selected to move on to the next voting stage which will be on pulse.mtn.co.ug .
• There is no entry fee to take part in the campaign.
• Only one application on social media will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person/ group shall be disqualified.

2.ELIGIBILITY

 Should be on MTN Uganda network and on MTN Pulse platform. Join pulse by downloading the Pulse app or *157#.

• All Pulsers that meet the minimum Victoria university requirements listed https://www.vu.ac.ug/requirements .
• The Competition is open to all citizens of Uganda, official residents and those legal working in Uganda.
• MTN Staff are NOT eligible to participate.
• All participants with criminal records shall be automatically disqualified.

2. PARENTAL CONSENT
   • Any participant under 18 years must obtain the consent of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) .

4. PITCH VIDEO
   • All videos uploaded on social media MUST be your original compositions/content.
   • All Contestants must provide a 1-minute videos pitching as to why they deserve the scholarship. The video can include a transformation idea, creative idea or a compelling idea that will transform your community.
   • The Contestant’s video must not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate or which infringes the rights of any third party. You also agree not to advertise or promote third parties’ or your own goods or services in the video

5. REPRESENTATIONS & WARRANTIES
   • The competition has 2 phases which will include publicity vote and top selected contestants will be required to engage their fans to vote for them on the MTN Pulse microsite.
   • Only votes through pulse.mtn.co.ug will be considered and the person with the most votes awarded. The top 5 with full scholarships and the next 5 with the half bursaries.

6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
   • In taking part in the competition, you grant full authority and copyright of all recordings (audio, visual and photos) under this competition to be used by MTN UGANDA LIMITED and VICTORIA UNIVERSITY.
   • MTN and VICTORIA UNIVERSITY have the right to remove and/or reject any video that violates intellectual property rights of others (including trademark, copyright, and other proprietary rights) or video content that encourages or induces infringement of intellectual property rights.

7. MTN and VICTORIA UNIVERSITY RIGHTS
   • MTN and Victoria University reserve the right to choose who moves on the 2^nd phase based on the pitch made and how unique the pitch is and how creative and transformational it is in addressing community needs.
   • By Participating you further grant and assign to MTN and Victoria University an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable license to use the video for Media, PR and any other communication related activities.
   • You also acknowledge that your information may be subject to the privacy policies of third parties and understand that the use of your data by any such third party is subject to the applicable privacy policy and that MTN is not responsible for such use.

8. SCHOLARSHIP TERMS
   • The scholarship will only be awarded to winners who meet the minimum university requirements for application. Visit https://www.vu.ac.ug/requirements .
   • The scholarship is available and applicable to all the existing Victoria University course catalog available on https://www.vu.ac.ug/
   • This full scholarship will cater for your TUITION and FUNCTIONAL FEES only for the duration of the course applied for. Successful applicants will be required to pay the application and registration fees.
   • The student will abide by all university policies, rules and regulations
   • The scholarship is applicable to students on FULL TIME academic programs only and so the successful applicant must be a full-time student.
   • The recipient of the scholarship must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.0
   • The recipient of the scholarship must maintain class attendance of not less than 75% throughout a semester.
   • For promotional purposes, the recipient must consent to the use of his/her information by Victoria University without expecting any reward.
   • The successful applicant is expected to uphold a high degree of discipline at all times.
   • As a recipient, you will not participate in any unlawful acts that may harm the University or put the University’s image and reputation at risk.
   • The applicant may visit the Victoria University & MTN website, look for ‘apply now,’ then apply and click on the MTN Pulse tab.
   • Victoria University reserves the right to discontinue any participant found to go against these terms and conditions

9. GENERAL TERMS

• MTN and VU are not responsible for any entry that is incomplete or incorrect, or for any failures, errors, or delays with respect to submission of any entry.

• Any attempt by you to deliberately interfere with or manipulate the competition may be a violation of criminal and/or civil Law and may result, among other things, in disqualification from the competition.
