Zimbabwe’s opposition Movement for Democratic Change plans to challenge last week’s presidential election results in court, lawyer Thabani Mpofu has said

“The result announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is going to be challenged,” Mpofu told reporters Wednesday in the capital, Harare. “There was a mammoth theft.”

The MDC has said that the July 30 vote, in which Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front leader Emmerson Mnangagwa was elected president with 50.8 percent of the vote, was rigged.
