The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Friday night awarded the best Uganda Football players in 2017 at Speke Resort Hotel in Kampala.
KCCA FC and Uganda Cranes midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba won the Most Valuable Player accolade, while the Cranes captain and Mamelodi Sundowns goalie Denis Onyango was awarded the best player outside Uganda.
After receiving the MVP Award, the attacking Midfielder, said,“I thank the Almighty Allah for this great achievement. This has been down to my teammates, technical team and family.”
Mutyaba walked away with a brand new car from the event sponsors.
In Women category, Fazilah Ikwaput of Olila High School took the MVP award and a brand new car, she also bagged one million Uganda shillings ($300) while the 1st and 2nd runners up Hasifah Nassuna and Vanessa Karungi received Ug Sh. 500,000 ($150).
KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi achieved the Coach of the year award after guiding KCCA FC to the group stages of CAF Confederation Cup.
FIFA Refree Brian Nsubuga Miiro won the Referee of the year and the award was received by the FUFA Communications Officer Ahamed Hussein.
The President of Federation of Uganda Football Associations Moses Magogo applauded the government of the republic of Uganda for the continued financial support towards the national team, and he thanked the sponsors for the financial support.
“The players have equally played a big role. They offer their bodies, time and efforts for the pride of their country, they go through several challenges to bring joy to Ugandans, we cannot forget to thank our dear fans for supporting the national team and endeavoring to return to the stadiums to support the local clubs, it is encouraging that the President of the republic of Uganda we seek for help.” Moses Magogo added.
The guest of honor Hon. Alex Onzima, Minister in the office of the President said.
“I thank FUFA, players and sponsors for making our country proud, I congratulate all the winners tonight.”
