5 Victims of Mismanagement of State funds summoned to appear before court

CAPE TOWN, South Africa South Africa's committee has cancelled the meeting after  five people reprimanded in the mismanagement of state funds in state owned enterprises have been summoned to to appear before the Portfolio Committee of Public Enterprises. These are Ms Dudu Myeni, Mr Ajay Gupta, Mr Atul Gupta, Mr Rajesh Gupta and Mr Duduzane Zuma The summons were duly issued by the Secretary to Parliament in terms of the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act, 2004. On 4 April 2018, the Sheriff attempted to serve the summonses on Mr Ajay Gupta, Mr Atul Gupta, Mr Rajesh Gupta and Mr Duduzane Zuma at their respective last known places of residence. South African Committee expresses concern over killing of Police Officers

CAPE TOWN, South Africa The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Mr Francois Beukman, has expressed sadness at the passing of South African Police Service officers in Khayelitsha and Mount Frere, in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape respectively. The continued killing of police officers remains a serious concern for the committee and must be dealt with urgently. “The killing of officers is a direct affront to the authority of the state and constitutional order,” Mr Beukman said. The committee calls on the community to assist the police with any information on both incidents, to ensure speedy arrests. Kampala, Uganda Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has today paid tribute to Mama Winnie Mandela, saying she played a critical role in keeping the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa alive, especially after the jailing of Nelson Mandela in 1964. The President's eulogy was delivered today at the South African High Commission in Kampala where he had gone to sign a condolence book and condole with the staff. Winnie Madikizela Mandela, the former wife of South African anti-apartheid icon and first post-apartheid African president, Nelson Mandela, passed away on April 2 in Johannesburg aged 81. She will be buried on Saturday. "In 1964 when Mzee Mandela was sent to jail, I was in Senior Four and I was following what was going on. He came out in 1990," said President Museveni.  "
