MAPUTO, Mozambique Seychelles Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure has said that the two countries have agreed to boost their bilateral cooperation as they share many similarities and could benefit from their respective comparative advantages as neighbors sharing the same ocean space. Ambassador Faure spoke to the local press at the end of bilateral talks with Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Minister José Condugua Antonio Pacheco. VICTORIA, Seychelles: The Government of the Republic of Seychelles wishes to categorically refute the allegations that the island of Assomption has been leased or sold to the Government of the Republic of India for the purposes of the establishment of a unilateral military base. Both the Government of the Republic of Seychelles and the Republic of India have signed an agreement that will require ratification in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements. In the case of India, only Cabinet ratification is required. In Seychelles’ case, the approval of the National Assembly of the Republic of Seychelles will be sought. VICTORIA, Seychelles: On the first day of the African Union Executive Council, the Secretary of State for the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure intervened on the subject of the Implementation of Africa Agenda 2063 and the progress on the Flagship Projects. Whilst he said there has been progress in some areas like with the Single African Air Transport Market, he expressed concern that the majority of the projects were encountering delays. He called for robust mechanisms to be put in place to address this. Similarly he noted, that more should be done to encourage synergies and links between the private sectors to ensure that the projects are fully realised. VICTORIA, Seychelles: The President of the Republic, Mr. Danny Faure, will be attending the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 28 to 29 January 2018. The upcoming Summit of the AU is being held under the theme "Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation". This follows the declaration made at the 29th Assembly of the Heads of State and Government in January 2017, where the AU would launch 2018 as the African Anti-Corruption Year. President Faure will leave Seychelles on 27 January 2018 and return on 29 January 2018.
