The report acknowledges that a partnership with Bidco “could adversely damage UNDP’s reputation and the communities it seeks to help”Embattled Ugandan farmers fighting threats and land grabbing by Bidco have praised a draft report by U.N. investigators that calls into question the company’s business practices. The report is the result of a complaint by the Bugala Farmers Association to the U.N.’s Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU). France commits 300 million Euros to support Uganda during 2017-18 financial year.

The French government will extend financial support to the tune of 300 million Euros to Uganda government to implement numerous projects during the 2017 – 2018 financial year. This was announced by the new French Ambassador to Uganda Her Excellency Stephanie Rivoal at her Embassy in Kampala. ‘The amount  is earmarked  to implement ongoing and upcoming projects like inauguration of the Gaba Water treatment plant and Namasuba subsystems due to take place at the end of November, financing  of Kampala – Jinja road, Mini hydro power plant in West Nile and Extension of Katosi water  treatment plant.’ Stephanie said.
