CAF Confederation Cup: Uganda’s KCCA FC wins FUS Rabat, Rivers loose at home.

Ugandan giants KCCA FC have won their third consecutive home game by 3:1 against FUS Rabat of Morocco in a Group A encounter of CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday 2nd July 2017 at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Kampala Uganda.

KCCA got the lead from well taken penalty spot by veteran striker Geofrey Sserunkuuma in the 42nd minute before the break.

New signing Ibrahim Sadam Juma curled home with the second strike in only 8 minutes into the second stanza after a successive assist from the first goal scorer.

However after nine minutes left winger Isaac Muleme notched the third in the 62nd minute to give the host a tremendous 3:0 lead.

FUS Rabat coach Hoalid Regragui introduced midfielder Yussef El Ginaoui in the 65th minute in his search for conciliation and fortunately getting it 5 minutes to the end of the game in the 85th minute through their attacker Lamina Diakite.

Meanwhile, KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi brought in three players in the last 14 minutes, with midfielder Jackson Nunda making the first walkout giving way to young star Allan Okello in the 76th minute.

In the same vein, Pacey winger Paul Mucwerezi was introduced for striker Derick Nsibambi in the 80th minute while Vicent Kayizzi came in for Julius Poloto in the 83rd minutes.

In the other group A encounter Rivers United were beaten 2:0 by Club African at their home in Yakoub Gowon Stadium in Port Haracourt in Nigeria.

The visitors goals came in the last 30 minutes of the game with Manoubi Hadad getting the first in the 63rd minute before Rivers defender Austin Festus found his own net to grant the visitors a second lead in the 8th minute.

According to the standings Tunisia’s Club African lead the group A log with 9 points but having a superior goal difference above KCCA who lie in the second position with 9 points and with 0 goal difference having scored 8 and conceded 8.

Morocco’s FUS Rabat is in third with 6 points and Rivers united is last with also 6 points.

FUS Rabat will host Rivers in the last game next Friday on 7th July in a must win match, as well KCCA FC will visit Club African in Tunisia on the same day but if the game settles in a draw both teams will qualify for the knockout stage with 10 points each.
